The soft body serves a safety function in the event of contact with a pedestrian. The body also serves in communicating through LED lights. The use of e-Rubber, a next-generation rubber that moves with electric power, is envisioned to change the shape of the body.

We developed a very small and lightweight capless fuel filler (a product that permits the refueling nozzle to be inserted without removing or replacing a cap). By integrating functions we have reduced the number of parts in this product compared with those of competitors, and made it plastic rather than metal.

Exterior components equipped with cameras and millimeter wave radar for autonomous driving systems. "Exterior communication lamps" will also serve an HMI function to inform people around of the vehicle's conditions and intentions.

We developed a new side airbag with a three-bag structure for instantaneous deployment in high-speed crashes and efficient impact absorption. Side airbags are mounted by the side of the seat to lessen impacts to the passengers' chest and abdomen.

Vibrating Steering Wheel

Toyoda Gosei has developed a steering wheel with a warning function that vibrates to warn a driver when it senses the vehicle is drifting out of its lane unintentionally. A vibrating unit with a small motor is built into the steering wheel of a vehicle.
